Allen C. Buchanan/ Avani Holdings

My husband, Allen C. Buchanan, just relocated an apparel manufacturing company, Avani Holdings, to a new building.

Avani Holdings/Allen C. Buchanan

Avani Holdings, LLC

Allen C. Buchanan of Lee and Associates' Orange office provided location advice toAvani Holdings, a local manufacturer of yoga and pilates apparel. The new location, at 9915 Bell Ranch Road in Santa Fe Springs, California is approximately 15,000 sf and will house Avani's design, sample production, finished goods, and corporate staff. Avani considered approximately 20 locations before choosing the Bell Ranch location. The driving factors in the decision were the economics and proximity to freeways and local transportation.

Doing Business with the Chinese

When doing business with the Chinese, there are a few things that one should keep in mind.  by: Carla Buchanan

  • When you accept a business card from the Chinese, be sure to look at the card and read it before you put it away. When you had your card to a Chinese, look them in the eye, use two hands to deliver the card. Have your card printed in Chinese on one side and hand that side face up.
  • Chinese like to do things in groups, and they respect groups. While traveling, travel with a group that you belong to, or, present yourself as part of a strong group.
  • Chinese respond much better to people if they come recommended by someone they know and trust. If you are recommended, your reputation is strong until you do something to break that trust.
  • Names are important to Chinese. Learn which name they prefer to be called by.
  • It is best to take your own interpreter if possible. Your interpreter may get you out of unpleasant situations that you may have unknowingly put yourself in.
  • Do not give an expensive gift that the Chinese can not repay. They expect that if given a gift, they will owe you the same amount in a gift. For example, when they sign in at a wedding the note the value of the gift they have brought so the bride’s family can repay them in some way. Chinese fulfill obligations, not necessarily kindness.
  • Chinese can belch, spit, and through cigarettes on the street.
  • There is very little public display of affection between members of the opposite sex. However, it is common for two women to hold hands.

Koos Manufacturing,Adriano Goldschmied,FIDM/Why premium denim jeans cost so much

I visited Koo's Manufacturing facility today, in South Gate, CA. (Thank you Mr. Podway!)
Wow! Now I know why premium denim costs so much!
1. The fabric: all the fabric for Adrian Goldschmied jeans are tested at Koo's in South Gate. This is a big deal because many, (maybe most!) manufacturers of jeans don't test their fabric when they get it in. Koo's does! And, if it doesn't meet their quality control standards, guess what, they send it back to the factory!
2. The fabric: Koo's rolls all the fabric out on a table BEFORE it is cut for your jeans. Why is this important? The denim has time to relax (like you wearing it, huh?) This gives the fabric a better shape, and thus, a better fit for YOU.
3. Cutting: Even though they could, they don't cut the pattern pieces a million at a time. They cut only about 35 pieces at a time, better fit for YOU!
4. Extra details: Your buttons are NOT going to fall off with AG! They take an extra step and make the button flap 3 ply for you.
5. waist band: they use fusing on their waist bands, so they will keep their shape!
6. Pressing the seams open: why is this important? You can cuff your jeans better, AND the jeans will wear in a natural way.
7. Sanding: So cool! They do it by hand and by laser. They have some other really cool secret ways to finish your jeans too.
8. Organization: This place is so organized! They are much more likely to put out a quality product with this system.
9 Quality control: They look at every single pair of jeans to make sure that they are perfect for you.
10. Made in the USA, REALLY! I saw it with my own eyes in South Gate, CA!
Below you will find a link to their video, take a look!
