In researching the sizing for Ace & Roxy, my new clothing line, launching Fall 2011, I gathered information on size comparisons for major women's clothing companies. I compiled this chart comparing the size standards in which the companies produce their clothing for the size M. This is a size comparison chart, for size medium, for brands such as Anne Klein, Anthropologie, and Jones of New York. The information was collected from web sites that sell the brands. If this information is helpful to you, please leave a comment for me on this blog.

This is a very useful list Carla, I can't imagine how long it took for you to compile it! I will link to it.
ReplyDeleteThe only thing I can offer in kind is this: Have you seen the Black House White Market sizing chart? I can't click through to it directly but you can find it easily. I like their sizing scale (I think it is reflective of their market) and I like how they've designed the chart to include numbered sizes alongside SML. I think the scale could stand a bit of finessing in the smaller sizes (jumps a whole inch) but it could be a good grading scale if it were massaged a little bit. That also applies to sizes at the top end but it's really great that their sizes make a 1.5" jump from 10 to 12 and again from 12 to 14.
Great Chart Carla!!!! Good Job!!!!

wow, this is fabulous. I wish there was one like
ReplyDeletethis for childrens wear.
This is great. I guess there is no such thing as an industry standard anymore huh? It is also very nice of you to share this info. I am an independent designer and when I started making my pattern blocks I looked at different brands to find my standard measurements to start my line. I wish I had access to this when I started! http://www.facebook.com/pages/Leatherette-Heart/125739955289
